Alessandro Michele, direttore artistico di Gucci dal 2015 si presenta al pubblico con una personalità veramente eclettica.

Classe 1972, nasce a Roma nel quartiere Monte Sacro. Figlio di un tecnico dell'Alitalia e di un'impiegata dell'industria cinematografica, fin dall'infanzia è stato sempre spronato ad inseguire le proprie passioni.
La sua non fu un'infanzia facile proprio a causa di questa sua personalità spiccata.
Comincerà a lavorare sulla sua immagine fin dagli otto anni e si decolorerà i capelli per la prima volta a soli dieci anni e sarà poi grazie all'incontro col bullismo che riuscirà a trovare la forza per farsi strada nel mondo della moda.

Il potersi abbigliare lo rendeva unico, diverso dagli altri e perciò soggetto al bullismo. Il fatto che mettessero dei recinti alla sua personalità non l'ha mai fermato, anzi, l'ha spronato a fare sempre di più e a spingersi oltre.Per Alessandro la moda unisce l'immaginazione alla realizzazione, ma rappresentò anche una sorta di rifugio negli anni dell'adolescenza. Tra la fine degli anni '70 e l'inizio degli anni '80, si avvicinò alla cultura Punk e questo lo spinse a cercare un luogo dove potersi sentire a casa. Trovò quel luogo nella Piazza.                  La piazza veniva vista come luogo di ritrovo per tutti i ragazzi giovani, ma sopratutto, per chi, come lui, aveva un vestiario che si distingueva da quello degli altri; in questo modo la piazza oltre a rappresentare un luogo di ritrovo, si trasformava in una vera e propria vetrina sulla cultura pop, dove ognuno poteva trovare il proprio gruppo di appartenenza.

Nel quartiere Monte Sacro era difficile immaginarsi una vita diversa da quella dei propri genitori, tanto che Alessandro arrivò a pensare che fosse più conveniente scegliere una strada che si presentava più facile ai suoi occhi, la strada più logica da intraprendere; ma presto si rese conto che era proprio quella piena di insidie a portare a luoghi meravigliosi.

"Scegliete la strada più difficile, quella che nessuno percorre, quella piene di insidie (...) sarà quella a portarvi in luoghi meravigliosi."

L'ufficio di Alessandro Michele, nella sede di Gucci, si trova a Roma, città che gli trasmette una forte energia.  Il palazzo molto è bello e arricchito dalle pitture di Raffaello, e proprio al suo interno è possibile immergersi nella bellezza romana.

Per il direttore creativo di questo brand, importante è trasmettere la bellezza delle creazioni in tutti i linguaggi possibili, al punto tale da immergersi totalmente in questa bellezza.

Oltre a far raggiungere uno dei fatturati annui più alti nella storia di Gucci, Alessandro Michele si è dedicato anche ad un altro progetto che coinvolge la città di Firenze: il Gucci Garden.

Il Gucci Garden si trova nel Palazzo della Mercanzia in piazza della Signoria a Firenze. Esso comprende una boutique con articoli unici, la Gucci Osteria che vede a capo lo chef stellato Massimo Bottura, e infine il Gucci Garden Galleria a cura di Maria Luisa Frisa.

Il Gucci Garden Galleria si divide in diversi percorsi tematici: Guccification un vero e proprio tributo alla doppia G, simbolo della maison; poi abbiamo De Rerum Natura, che oltre ad essere un richiamo alla classicità, interpreta a pieno la passione di Alessandro Michele per la natura, gli animali e i giardini. Troviamo anche Ephemera con i cimeli della maison e infine un cinema da camera che prevede la proiezione di film sperimentali.

Il Gucci Garden è un luogo ipnotico dove la linea tra immaginazione e realtà è molto sottile. Sicuramente un luogo da visitare per comprendere al meglio il concept di questo brand!

"Alessandro Michele is a free thinker and a dreamer, convinced that fashion should be a universal language, an expression of a way of life and a point of view.

Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s artistic director since 2015, presents himself to the public with a truly eclectic personality.

Born in 1972, he was born in Rome in the Monte Sacro district. The son of an Alitalia technician and an employee of the film industry, since his childhood he has always been encouraged to pursue his passions.

His childhood was not easy because of his strong personality. He will begin to work on his image from the age of eight and will bleach his hair for the first time at only ten years and it is then thanks to the encounter with bullying that he will find the strength to make his way in the fashion world.

Being able to dress made him unique, different from the others and therefore subject to bullying. The fact that they put enclosures to his personality has never stopped him, indeed, it has encouraged him to do more and more and to go further.

For Alessandro, fashion combines imagination and realization, but it was also a sort of refuge in the years of adolescence. 

In the late '70s and early '80s, he approached the Punk culture and this prompted him to look for a place where he could feel at home.

He found that place in the square.The square was seen as a meeting place for all young boys, but above all, for those who, like him, had a clothing that was different from that of others; In this way the square as well as representing a meeting place, was transformed into a real showcase of pop culture, where everyone could find their own group.

In the Monte Sacro district it was difficult to imagine a life different from that of their parents, so much so that Alessandro came to think that it was more convenient to choose a road that appeared easier in his eyes, the most logical way to undertake; but soon he realized that it was the one full of pitfalls that led to wonderful places.

"Choose the most difficult road, the one that nobody walks, the one full of pitfalls (...) will be the one to take you to wonderful places."

Alessandro Michele’s office, in the Gucci office, is located in Rome, a city that transmits a strong energy to him.  The palace is very beautiful and enriched by the paintings of Raphael, and just inside it you can immerse yourself in the Roman beauty.

For the creative director of this brand, it is important to convey the beauty of the creations in all possible languages, to the point of being totally immersed in this beauty.

In addition to reaching one of the highest annual revenues in the history of Gucci, Alessandro Michele has also dedicated himself to another project involving the city of Florence: the Gucci Garden.

Gucci Garden is located in the Palazzo della Mercanzia in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. 

It includes a boutique with unique items, the Gucci Osteria headed by Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura, and finally the Gucci Garden Galleria by Maria Luisa Frisa.

The Gucci Garden Gallery is divided into several thematic paths: Guccification a real tribute to the double G, symbol of the maison; then we have De Rerum Natura, which in addition to being a reference to classicism, fully interprets the passion of Alessandro Michele for nature, animals and gardens. We also find Ephemera with the maison’s memorabilia and finally a Camera da cinema that includes the projection of experimental films.

Gucci Garden is a hypnotic place where the line between imagination and reality is very thin. Definitely a place to visit to better understand the concept of this brand!
