Oggi
festeggiamo la nostra libertà.
Buona
Liberazione a tutti!

On April 25 of every year we celebrate the Italian Liberation. With this celebration we want to pay homage to the victory of the partisan Resistance against the fascist government.
The Italian Resistance was the group of political and military movements that opposed Nazi-Fascism after September 1943. The partisan forces, which gave life to the Resistance movement, were distinguished by their political orientation: there were the brigate Garibaldi (communist), brigate Matteotti (socialist) , brigate Giustizia e Libertà (of the action party).
The party was established on April 25, 1946, one year after the National Liberation Committee of Upper Italy proclaimed the general insurrection in the territories that were still occupied by the Nazi-Fascists, indicating to the active partisan forces to attack the Fascist and Nazi garrisons by imposing surrender.
Liberation has an extremely important role and meaning for Italian history: not only does it put an end to twenty years of fascist dictatorship and five years of war, but it represents the first step towards the referendum of the 2nd June 1946 for the choice between monarchy and republic that will then lead to the birth of the Italian Republic and the drafting of the Constitution. With it ends the period of terror, oppression, censorship and inhumanity, and freedom of thought and civil rights are rehabilitated.

Many wonder why it's important to celebrate this festivity still today. It is celebrated because it is fundamental to remember: to remember the freedom conquered, the struggle and the sacrifice of the Resistance, but also to remember why it was there, to remember the fascist oppression and to remember never again to fall into the vortex of hatred and dictatorship, to remember all the lives lost because of war, because of the camps, because of cruelty and ignorance. It is important to fight the totalitarian and neo-fascist thoughts that try to invade today's society.
Today we celebrate our freedom.
Happy Liberation to all!
